St Nicholas Day

The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas. He dedicated his life serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known for his generosity to those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships. He loved God and cared for people. He was ready to help in any way he could. Nicholas put Jesus Christ at the centre of his life and his ministry.

Today many countries celebrate the feast of St Nicholas on December 6th. On Wednesday 9th December, at our school the children came wearing a red top and Santa’s hat. They were encouraged to be generous and bring food products to help those less fortunate in order to follow Saint Nicholas’ example.
