Ensures that the policies and provisions laid down in the 1988 Education Act are adhered to in both state and non-state schools.
Ensures the implementation of the National Minimum Curriculum in his/her area according to the particular needs and levels of attainment of the pupils.
Advises on the development of the curriculum the staff and the school within his/her area of specialisation.
Evaluates and reports on the work of teachers/LSEs and on the progress of teaching.
Evaluates and ensures the quality and standards of teaching and learning in school.
Collects and maintains relevant up-to-date data and statistics.
Contributes towards the organisation and running of training education resources.
Advises on the choice of textbooks, equipment, teaching aids and materials and ensure that all is used in the right way.
Overall purpose of position of Head of School:
To promote and further the all-round education of each pupil at school.
To organise, manage and control efficiently and effectively the human, physical, social, spiritual and financial resources of the school.
To provide professional leadership in the implementation and development of the NMC.
Main Responsibilities:
Ensures the quality and standards of teaching and learning in the school.
Formulates the school aims, objectives and policies in conformity with the Education Act and related legal notices and the directives and regulations of the Education Division.
Promotes the enrichment of the Curriculum through activities organised within and outside the school.
Encourage team spirit through active participation of the staff in decision making and organisation of different committees.
Directs the induction, motivation, support, development, monitoring and appraisal of professional staff.
Supervises the academic and pedagogical quality of teaching and learning.
Ensures the progress of the Christian and moral values of both staff and pupils.
Ensures order and discipline and helps resolve conflicts, promotes healthy relationships between pupils, staff and parents.
Directs the planning organisation and co-ordination of activities throughout the year.
Prepares timetables and assigns classes and subjects to teachers and LSEs.
Ensures the compilation and upkeep of school statistics, pupils’ and staff records.
Supplies data and information requested by the Education Division and the Curia.
Ensures the proper maintenance and servicing of the school building, facilities and equipment.
Ensures the cleanliness and the embellishment of the school environment.
