Dinja Waħda Gold Award

Dinja Waħda is an organisation that promotes environmental education within schools focusing mainly on protecting wildlife and its habitats. Each class carries out hands-on, interactive activities supported by presentations and other material provided by BirdLife – Dinja Waħda. The aim is to initiate behavioural changes in children who are the future carers of our planet. Points are awarded for every activity carried out. Depending on how involved the school is within this project, at the end of the year schools win a gold, silver, bronze or merit award.

Last year we participated in this project and were awarded the Gold Award. The award ceremony was held on Monday 16th November 2015 where two children as well as two Dinja Waħda committee members from our staff, represented our school to receive the award which is now proudly hanging on the school walls. The ceremony was held at Marsaxlokk Primary School where 55 schools were represented at the ceremony. Before the ceremony started the children were asked to participate in some activities together with children from other schools. This was an interesting and fruitful experience. Our school will be participating in this project again this year so as to enhance our knowledge about the environment.
